The last few weeks I have been using Power BI and searching through the community have highlighted as potential features.
For examples, I will use a fictitious company that sell GPU's & CPU's online and in a shop.
Drill Down is a great part of Power Bi and lets us see lower levels of data through a hierarchy in this case Channel -> Type -> Product. In the example below a bar chart shows profit and a matrix to show additional information: Margin and Gross Sales.
These visuals use the same hierarchy; however, you have to manually drill down each visual, as you cannot link the interaction. On a small dataset this is not too bad but with larger data with complex hierarchy, this can become tedious and easy to lose track of drill down. Having the ability to link the drill down interaction would make this cleaner and easier.
Another great feature would be to leave drill down enabled by default. Each time a user loads the report they have to click the down arrow to enable drill down, else clicking acts like a slicer.
A report page may have only one visual, making this slicing feature unnecessary, where drill down would be a more appropriate action, this simple feature makes Power Bi significantly less user friendly. Furthermore, ability to when a visual is pinned would save users time instead of having to enter the report.
Hmmm... It's all been about drill down so far, let’s mix that up a bit with my final point!
3 - (well I tried, but I'm on a roll)
Finally, the ability to change a visual in a drill down would be great! Some visuals work well for some data and not others. Let us add some additional products and visualise using pie charts.
Okay my top level tells me my shop sales is about 2/3 of my profit. But when I drill down I have like maybe just over 1/2 GPU sales, more than 1/4 RAM and the rest CPU...maybe? This could be better displayed as something else, like the bar chart above.
